The Situation
Most seats are installed wrong. Here's the ten-minute audit. That is the short version. The longer version is that most dads know the right move and still miss it, because the moment shows up when you are tired, behind schedule and already holding something in the other hand.
This is a gear problem with a simple shape: small, repeatable decisions compound. Nobody fixes it with one heroic weekend.
The Play
Run it the same way every time. Pick the trigger, pick the action, and remove every decision that sits between them. If "car seats: install it right" requires you to think about it, it will not survive a bad Tuesday.
Start at one rep. One conversation, one set, one meal, one purchase. Prove the system works on the smallest version before you scale it up to the whole household.
Common Mistakes
Going too big on day one. Announcing it instead of doing it. Renegotiating the rule every time it gets inconvenient — which is exactly when the rule is doing its job.
The other classic: measuring yourself against a version of safety you saw on a screen. Your house, your kids, your schedule. Copy the principle, not the aesthetic.
Make It Stick
Give it two weeks and one visible marker — a note on the fridge, a calendar block, a bag by the door. Anything that puts the decision outside your head.
Then check in. If it held, keep it and add nothing. If it broke, shrink it by half and run it again. 6 min of reading is worthless without a rep behind it.
